April 15 - Laguna Collpa

Awful, awful day. Diahrrea, probably the llama. Big and steep climb -- virtually impossible due to the soft surface, due to recent grading. Push much of the way up. Exhausted. Diahrrea doesn't help. Awful. We kept it moving. I didn't eat lunch. Got down to a laguna - pink flamingos! We'd read about them but this was our first sighting. Wanted to climb out of laguna basin to avoid laguna cold wind. Did so -- only to reach another laguna. This one smelled quite strong of sulphur. So we had to go around it lest we breathe that all night. Went to ground amid a bunch of unoccupied buildings. really cold now in the tent, 4 degrees. Wind is buffeting the tent quite strongly. Can't wait to exit the altiplano. Probably three more days to SPDA.
